OMG, you guys! The hype is legit!
@elcharro.cafe is just as good (if not even better) than everyone says!
My mom and I had lunch at the original downtown location today before @tucsonmeetyourself.
It was hard to decide what to order because I had read so many positive comments on everything!
So we ordered the Mini Chimichangas for the appetizer. And holy shit! How can something be so soft and crunchy at the same time?!? The. Best. Chimichangas. Ever. And, of course! One would expect the inventor of the dish to be the best!
I had the original El Charro beef tacos… and wow. They are the same Mexican style my gringa mom makes, but wow! Incredible. Even served with peas! Which I love, but some think weird.
My mom had carnitas and red Chile tamales, which were also amazing but not as outstanding as the mini chimichangas and the tacos.
We then ordered sopapillas for dessert, which came with four churros and chocolate dipping sauce. Both were delicious.
And to top it all off, Tanya, our server couldn’t have been nicer or cuter! She made the meal even more enjoyable.
This huge quantity of food we so joyously devoured was just under $50, a very reasonable price for the quality and quantity.
This is, by far, my favorite meal since moving back, and one that is going to be hard to beat.
I can’t wait to go back!
