Disclaimer: When a food critic says something is the best in the city or some other context, it is obviously safe to assume that person hasn’t had every item in that category.
That being said, La Chingada Cocina Mexicana (@lachingadacocina) has the best huevos rancheros in Tucson!
La Chingada is a vibrant restaurant located in the heart of downtown Tucson. It’s known for offering a rich tapestry of flavors and traditional Mexican dishes. The restaurant prides itself on providing an authentic taste of Mexico with inviting hospitality and a lively atmosphere.
La Chingada (yes, that translates as the effing thing in Spanish!) opened its doors downtown in December 2020 near its sister restaurants, the Neighborhood Bar, CRUDA Mariscos, the nightclub Lust, and the brand new @realgoodbrunch.
Since then, it has weathered some mediocre reviews and become known for its Quesa-Birria Tacos, Chilaquiles Divorciados, and a unique Quesa-Birria Pizza that blends tradition and innovation.
La Chingada also offers a cultural experience with live music featuring local talent and authentic live Mariachi on Sundays.
The restaurant has certainly become part of Tucson’s culinary landscape and contributes to the city’s reputation for great Mexican food and vibrant dining experiences.
Back to the huevos rancheros! It's so tasty. The chorizo has the perfect bite of seasoning without being too spicy. The fresh corn tortillas with pinto beans, pico, crema, queso, and cilantro make you want to order it again.
So I did. I went back a week later and had it again.
I’ve probably had about ten orders of huevos rancheros around the city, and these beat out El Sur and even the 5 Points offering, which is very, very good!
So, if you are like me and love some huevos rancheros, I’m confident you won’t be disappointed at La Chingada!
