Okay, okay...
I admit it -- the first food entry is not focused much on the culture, quality, or healthiness of food.
However, this entry is important in my culture and relationship with Tucson.
Growing up in Tucson in a lower-middle-class family trying to work its way through generational poverty, eating out was a great treat. It didn't happen much, so it had to count.
One of my favorite eating out places was the Lucky Wishbone. Initially known for their fried chicken, I don't think I ever ate chicken there -- it was all about the steak fingers!
I remember the greasy, breaded strips of steak dipped in that tangy horseradish sauce along with the garlic fries was just heaven.
Even long after I left, this was the first stop whenever I returned to town. Even when I moved back here last month, the first meal I paid for was... Lucky Wishbone's steak fingers.
And it tasted just like it did when I was 10.
? - When was your first Lucky Wishbone moment?
